Potter Induced Pop Culture Isolation and Whoring

Just a couple of quick housekeeping items before I head off into the weekend. Of course at midnight tonight Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits the shelves and while I probably won’t get mine until tomorrow I must admit I’m terrified. No not of Harry dying or anything like that, I’m terrified that some web site, TV show, or magazine will ruin the book before I get a chance to finish it. As such I’m cutting myself off from the majority of media that I tend to frequent which is like a meth head going cold turkey. Web wise, I’ll just be checking email. TV will be limited to sports and DVDs. Magazines and newspapers will have to pile up. Of course the biggest threat is me because if I came across any of these things, I might be tempted to dig further to read or watch the secrets revealed. Also there’s the possibility that some smart ass kid will be sitting in Border’s yelling out the ending when I pick up my copy and if that happens I might just have to go all Bad Santa on the kid. I’m hoping to finish the book off by Sunday night but in the meantime the blog will be a little quiet.

Second thing to address are the eye popping ads you might have noticed to the left of this. That’s right in an attempt to make a few extra cents, I’m whoring Amazon. If you click on the item it will open up Amazon in a separate window and give you more details on the item. I promise that the ads will stay off to the side and not pop up or anything like that. Plus the merchandise advertised will center on things I’m talking about or just some of my old favorites so you’ll not be seeing ads for CSI or Murder She Wrote, season 1. That’s all for now folks have a great weekend whether you’re a muggle, witch, or wizard!
